It occurred to me, upon reading the Netziv (thanks, again), who suggests a different meaning to the word כן, that perhaps the word mean “exactly” here. That’s not what the Netziv says, but it made me think in that direction.

Here is part of the Netziv:

ותיבת ״כן״ משמעו כמו ״כן צדקה לחיים״ בספר משלי ( <https://mg.alhatorah.org/#!Mishlei/11.19> יא,יט), דמשמעו בסיס ויסוד. כך, לא הביטו בסדר נשיאתו שאמר להם יעקב טעמים על מה הוא מצוה אותם שיעשו כך וכך, אבל המה לא עשו כן מחמת הטעם, אלא העיקר משום שכך צוה אביהם, ולא חשבו אז דבר אחר.

 

And here is something that somebody sent me privately. Since he sent me privately, I’m not sure if he wants to be publicly noted, but of course he is welcome to put up his hand if he wishes.

I find that this commentator adds to the question with his examples, but does not contribute to the solution with his suggestions:

I think that this way might give it even more emphasis. Consider:

 

on "ken":

His sons did it for him that way, just like he commanded.

on "lo":

His sons did it for him - Yes! Just like he commanded!

 

Incidentally, I noticed that the Netziv puts in some time expounding on the word "ken" here.
