In terms of personal middot, given that these discussions of "why did God do X" almost invariably end up with "Group Y is guilty of 1, 2, 3" (and the speaker of course is NOT a member of group Y), it is best not to go there (unless you are a Chafetz Chayim who will look inward). Ben
