Further to this debate, the Mechaber (493:1) says:

נוהגים שלא לישא אשה בין פסח לעצרת עד ל"ג לעומר

*Nohagim shelo lissa isha bein pesach le'atzeres ad lag laomer*

What's Atzeres needed for in that sentence?
