I did not relate to the Aramaic of the Gmara, but to Daniel, Ezra, Onkelos, Targum Yonatan, etc.

I came into this thinking Aramaic also has a hei hayedi'ah.
But it doesn't, the "-a" suffix is the definite article. What an
incredible thing for me not to have noticed all these years. I started
learning gemara in 1975.

But nw the reverse question, why would something get the -a suffix if
it wasn't a ha- situation in Hebrew?
