I get the re-reading in zachor, because ofספק דאורייתאIn megillah, we just do several  of them for  whatever reasonRe: regular Torah laining, I've almost never encountered other re-readsEG During RH laining we have either chemes and cheimes  mayim or both cheimes.  I don't see a need to cover every base in general.It is an interesting topic for me.RRW
