Shamim are those who dropped their old nusach in favor of nusach 
Sefarad. I don't see why this would have affected their accent.

On a practical level, I've never been to a Baladi shul, but the accent 
I've heard in Shami shuls (from those who didn't use the modern Israeli 
one) is identical to what you've described.  (With a Litvisher cheylom.)
