[Mesorah] Spelling of the name Maya

Does anyone have any sources or knowledge of how one would go about
spelling the Russian/Yiddish name "Maya", according to Ashkenazi mesora on
writing vernacular names using the phonetic yiddish spelling?

Surprisingly, none of the standard Gittin seforim I have looked at even
list the name.
