[Mesorah] Nekadesh

Presumably, "nekadesh" is binyan pi'el, whereas "nakdishach" is binyan
hif'il. Hif'il is often (though not always) a causative form.

I never really thought about this before, but perhaps "nekadeish es
shimcha" -- we can actively make Hashem's *name* holy, but "nakdishecha" --
we can only indirectly *cause* Hashem himself to be holy (by acknowledging
Him as such), but in a less active way.

It's also interesting to note the continuation: "*Nekadeish* es shimcha
ba'olam kesheim *shemakdishim* oso bishmei marom." Although we emulate the
shevach offered by the malachim, perhaps their shevach is "worth less" then
ours (think of the piyut "Asher Ometz Gevurasecha" from shacharis on Yom
Kippur), and that is why even with regard to Hashem's name, their power is
limited to being "makdish" and not "mekadesh".

Now I'm trying to think of how this understanding could explain why one is
mekadesh a woman but makdish a korban.
