Many many texts were revises by copyists to match "what they thought were correct"

I'll repeat this, every corrector probably had equally good intentions to restore what they thought it should have been.

It's kinda easy to dichotomize even demonize one set over the other

We Fix
You Revise
They Reform  
Etc.

Maybe Hanau was indeed offbase but his revisions sure did catch on!
