[Mesorah] Davening: Pesach vs. Hag Hammatzos

I'm afraid I don't get the question that is being asked and 
the drashot to explain.

As a youngester I learned that 14 Nissan is the day of 
korban Pesach and is therefore called Pesach.  Hag Hamatzot 
starts the next day, 15 Nissan, and continues for seven 
days.

I've never questioned this or saw any mixup and have not 
been disturbed by the usual reference to the seven day 
holiday in English and Yiddish as Peisach.
