OK here's the irony

Hanau, etc. sought to impose L'shon Miqra based upon the Masoretic text onto Davening.  This led to a revolt by some who opposed their partial rejection of Ashk'nazi Mss. Etc.

Now we have almost the converse, imposing the same unmodified Ash'nenazi Mss. [Which Hanau had revised] back onto the Masorecit text

So Hanau imposed otoh onto atah based upon Ben Asher

Now Chabad and Brisk for example, seek to impose the Mss. Based Zecher onto Tanach.
