According to this minhag there is a very interesting (and rare) anecdote, in 
which the Cohen reads about his ancestor's (Aharon) death. The rare part is 
when it happens on his Yahrzeit, when Parashat Masei falls on aleph Av and 
is not read with Matot.
This happened last on 5768 and will happen again only in 5812.
