A masiv or meis'vei or an Esevei ALWAYS implies asking a question from a
SUPERIOR sources e.g. From a Mishnaor Braissa on an Amorah [sometimes even
from a passuk]
as opposed to two other types of questions viz.::
1. A Rami urminhu etc. is asking from an EQUALLY authoritative source
2. A Maskif is a qustion from logic
Source: Feigenbaum's guide on the Talmud- i.e. the one with the blue cover
I highly recommend his book.
As far as the exact grammar of Eiseivei vs. Mesievei I am nto clear but I
would assume it is probably 1st person vs. 3rd person or something similar
while "massiv" is AFAIK a simple 3rd person singular past tense
I hope this helps!
