David,
I thank you for trying to read my mind, but the facts seem
otherwise. That is, I DID NOT misread anything in this regard.
And just to be sure, I have just checked and found that the first
nismakh form there is hataf-patah, patah, followed by "vegam"
hataf-patah, tzere. (What I have not found anywhere is the first
form that appears above in the Subject field, which I understand to
be qamatz, qamatz.)
My edition is called HaMilon Ha`Ivri HaMerukaz, which was a serious
revision of the previous Even Shoshan edition, published by Qiryat
Sefer, which first appeared in 1952 and was reprinted thereafter. As
such, the 1973 HaMilon Ha`Ivri HaMerukaz is indeed a later revision
than those reprints of the three-volume edition, even if they were
printed after the 1973 first publication of HaMilon Ha`Ivri
HaMerukaz. It thus seems to trump the three-volume edition that was
printed in 1975.
I was intending to check with the publisher---perhaps after I take
down my sukka.
But I did find the hataf-patah, patah form used all over the Web, as
I had pointed out.
Gemar hatima tova to all.
