I don't know about France, but in Montreal food is labeled "halav israël".
A few years ago there was a note in Kashrus Magazine, noting that some
baked goods imported from Canada bear the phrase "pas halav israël", and
explaining that that means just the opposite of what many a Yinglish-
speaker might expect it to.
