Rav Amital's opinion appears in print. Though the opinion of Rav
Lichtenstein is quoted many times, I have not found any original source
for that opinion. Rav Amital's opinion is based on the concept of
natural law. There are numerous articles on the possible concept of
natural law with halacha, It is connected to the debate over "lifnim
mishurat hadin". How can there be an obligation but not be within
din. Rav Aharon Lichtenstein wrote an article that led to many others,
both supporting and arguing with his contentions, including a recent
article by Rav Meir Lichtenstein
