It's imho odder than that- if you look at the gemara in brachot 31a which is generally considered the source for this glass breaking, simple pshat (see Ran there as well) is that it has nothing to do with the churban (of course why we sing at all [vs. az yashir-we will sing when hkb"h's name is 1] is a separate issue)
