<<Those who are noheig aveilut should not be wearing their best shabbos finery
on Shabbat chazon, per the posekim who say so.>>

RYBS seems to disagree.
>From The Lord is Righteous in his ways

and that is why we sing the words of lekhah dodi to this tune (eli
tzion) on shabat chazon
"Boi ve-shalom ateret baalah gam be simchah uvetzahalah"
is also a building of the mikdash. Whenever we want to express the
enlessness of our longing the intensity of our loneliness for the bet
hamikdash and our strong faith and expectation that the redemption
will finally materialize we use the melody of eli tziyyon

and the same is true of "Beneh Vetcha kevattehiilah vekhonen
mikdashekha al mekhono"
on YomTov when we also use this melody. Our waiting for the arrival of
the essiah
and the rebuilding of the bet hamikdash has no limit. Even though he
may tarry nevertheless
I will wait for him. We will never be satisfied with any gift G-d
bestows on us if
the bet hamikdash remains in ruins if it is not rebuilt and restored.
and may it be rebuilt and restored soon in our day

Regardless of any explanations R. Soloeitchik assumed the custom of
singing lecha dodi
to the tune of eli tzion. I am also sure he followed the common minhag
hagra of wearing
the usual shabbat clothing on shabbat chazon.
