Guess what? Nah, you won't guess, so I'll tell you - my wife and I are being honored as the guests of honor at our shul in a few weeks! It's very exciting, but I keep on feeling like they must've run out of all the GOOD honorees if they've come to us! :-)

Anyway, no pressure, but if you'd care to take out an ad, come for dinner or simply send something in, it would be much appreciated. If you can help out - GREAT! If not, no big deal. Details are just below, or if you'll send me an email I can send you an ad blank.

By now, you should have received your invitation to the 119th Annual Tifereth Israel Shul Dinner which will take place on Sunday May 17th.  I have attached a copy of the invitation as well an ad blank.
This year the honorees will be:

Ø      Yitz & Ruthie Weiss - Guests of Honor

Ø      Mordechi & Naomi Bodek - Young Leadership Award

Ø      David & Avigail Adler  - Service Award

As the dinner is the largest fundraiser for the shul we would like to see reservations and ads from everyone. In order to expedite the ad process, a special email address has been set up for the event to take your ads. You can send your ads to tifjournal at gmail.com. Be sure to include the ad denomination and full text of the ad as you want it written. If you will want the text to be in Hebrew and have the ability to type in Hebrew please do so in the email. 

The deadline for ads is April 24th!

Please take out a few moments and say some tehillim (psalms) for the Israeli chayalim (soldiers) & for everyone living in Israel. Israel also has six soldiers in enemy captivity, namely:

Gilad ben Aviva (Shalit), captured just outside Gaza on June 25, 2006;
Guy ben Rina (Hever), disappeared near the Syrian-Israeli border in the Golan Heights in August 1997;
Ron ben Batya (Arad), captured when his plane was downed over Lebanon in Oct. 1986;
Tzvi ben Pninah (Feldman), Yekutiel Yehuda Nachman ben Sarah (Katz), and Zecharia Shlomo ben Miriam (Baumel), all captured at the Sultan Yaaqub battle in Lebanon on June 11,1982.

Also please keep in mind the three Yeshiva students currently in jail in Japan:
