How ironic is it that this issue is #28 and this week we're doing birkat hachama...which only happens once every 28 years! Cool! (More on birkat hachama in this issue).



My rosh yeshiva from Kerem B'Yavneh, Rav Goldvicht a"h, instead of wishing everyone "chag kasher v'samayach" ("a kosher & happy holiday") always reversed the order. Why? He said, with all the effort that goes into cleaning, cooking, cleaning and more cleaning - it'll for sure be a "kosher" holiday. He said make sure it's HAPPY one as well! 



On that note: Chag samaych v'kasher! A happy & kosher holiday!

also has six soldiers in enemy captivity, namely:













Gilad ben Aviva (Shalit), captured just outside Gaza on June 25, 2006;






Guy ben Rina (Hever), disappeared near the Syrian-Israeli border in the Golan Heights in August 1997;






Ron ben Batya (Arad), captured when his plane was downed over Lebanon in Oct. 1986;






Tzvi ben Pninah (Feldman), Yekutiel Yehuda Nachman ben Sarah (Katz),
and Zecharia Shlomo ben Miriam (Baumel), all captured at the Sultan
Yaaqub battle in Lebanon on June 11,1982.
