Shadal mentions these unusual teamim (accentuation) of ki ani hashem
elokeichem in his peirush to Vayikra 19:25. He refers to his explanation on
Shemot 20:2 "anochi hashem elokeha", where he gives a very lengthy
explanation of the division of those three words.

Mechel Perlman z"l, Mori veRabi in the field of teamim and messora is also
perturbed by the teamim on "ki ani hashem elokeichem", Vayikra 20:7. In
his work Sefer Vayikra Mefusak there is an 82 page introduction where
Perlman discusses various difficult teamim in Vayikra. On page eyin vav
ff, Perlman quotes a private communication from Rav Mordechai Breuer, who
should be understood as Perlman"s Rav uMoreh in this field.
Breuer's answer (to questions about other phrases) seems to be that in a
number of cases, the baalei ha'teamim prefered to divide a phrase within
the phrase, and not after an introductory word. not Ki (zakef) \\ ani
hashem elokaichem, but the main division (the larger mafsik) within the
phrase "ani hashem elokaichem".

I (DB) think this is to stress the phrase "ani hashem elokaichem" more
than the "ki" , which would fit in with the other 9 times in the parasha
that there is no "ki" only "ani hashem elokaichem". Breuer doesnt exactly
say this but it is my belief here. Somewhat similar to this is the well
know phenomenon of the teamim , when faced with an introductory phrase and
a 2 part list, put the major disjunct after the first (main ) part and not
after the introductory phrase. Again, this is my analogy, not Breuer's
comment to Perlman.
I (DB) also think this may be especially probable with "ki" and other
"ultra short" words (Breuer refers to them as teiva zeira in other
contexts). Perhaps a parallel for unusual rules with "ki": Breuer's seminal
book "Taamei haMikra beKaf Alef Sefarim uveSifrei Eme"t " chapter 7, where
he discusses on pages 155-165 when small words are connected to their
following word by a makaf and when by a mesharet, he gives hundreds of
examples to show the rules or tendencies he proposed. Just about every page
there has numerous examples with "ki".

(Back to Breuer's communication with Perlman, in DB's words) If the main
division is on "ani" (tipcha), they now had 2 choices : ki ani (mercha
tipcha) which sounds like "ki" refers only to "ani"
or ki (tevir ) ani hashem (mercha tipcha) which the baalei haTeamim
prefered.

Since Gershon R got me going on this phrase "ani hashem elokaichem"., and
this *is* a Mesorah list, I would like to point out that there are
numerous Massoretic comments on ani hashem elokeichem or ani hashem. For
instance ,
Ani Hashem at the end of a pasuk in Vayikra, 20 times, listedin MG on
Vayikra 18:5;
Ani hashem elokei*h*em (listed MG Shmot 29:46) not elokeic*h*em
ani hashem elokeic*h*em at the beginning of a pasuk (Final Messorah letter
aleph #143)

My favorite Massorah note is found in the Massorah Gedola Vayikra 18:5
(original Printed edition), the various occurances of "ani hashem" (a)
and "ani hashem elokeichem"(b) in Vayikra:
(1) *Min raish torat Kohanim ad "lo tignovu" **ani hashem elokaichem bar
min gimel*
>From the beginning of Vayikra till 19:10 (b) appears 7 times to (a) 3
times , so the Messorah says "*ani hashem elokaichem bar min gimel*" and
lists the 3 minority cases
*(2) Umin lo tignovu ad uKratem beEtzem* *Hayom Kavatei, Bar min dalet*
(after 19:10 until 23:21 (a) occurs fifteen times and (b) only 4, so the
Massorah lists the 4 minority cases (b) . Kavatei here means, like the
aformentioned minority cases (a) in Part 1.
*(3) Umin uKratem ad sof deSifra Ani Hashem Elokaichem bar mim bet *
from after 23:21 until Vayikra ends (b) occurs 6 times and (a) twice , so
the Messorah list the 2 minority cases (a).

The total count is 20 times (a) and 17 times (b), but instaed of listing
the minority 17 cases, the Messorah only 9! and gets it accurate.
