    As explained on the page after the Table of Contents in the Hofmeister 
siddur, N"M (in Hebrew) means "Nusach Meuchar".
    The note indicates that occasionally two versions are brought in the 
siddur, "Nusach Yashan" [N"Y] and "Nusach Meuchar" [N"M], and that the 
principle nusach of the siddur is Nusach Yashan but that in some cases where 
there is another nusach and it is known that it was not influenced by the 
maskilim or censors N"M will appear so that the mispallel can decide for 
himself according to which nusach he wishes to pray.
