Why make up rules and force everyone to follow them?  What 
happened to free choice and different styles?

Dictating rules and enforcing them is what led to incorrect 
modifications in Tanakh, addition of metagim, etc. Rules 
caused by the invention of ten vowels led to making sh'va'im 
nachim into na'im.  and so on and so forth...

Keep away from these dangerous rules -  especially when they 
cause changes where the ba'alei mesorah said otherwise.
