«The Mishna is quite often involved in giving the general rule, then a subclass of exceptions ("bammeh d'varim amurim"), and then further exceptions.»

EG
Most of us ignore the rule Tadir v'shei'no tadi... WRT to ner Hanukkah Friday Night, and many WRT to Saturday Night.

Few of us say "al n'tilas yadayim before washing, rather we defer until before drying.

Very rigid types stick to the big wheels and ignore the small wheels. Most students of Talmud and Halachah know better because they've been sensitized to these phenomena. Beginners often get lost by them

Zil g'mor requires us to masteri many p'ratim before turning a Klal into a "klalah" C"vS :-)

Masters of many sugyos, such as g'dolim have that deep perspective...

Shalom and Regards, RRW
