[Mesorah] Ezek 10:13

The first word in Ezek 10:13 la'ophannim has an athnah. According to
printed editions, including Keter Yerushalyim, BHS, and the Bomberg edition
of 1525-27, the word also has an accent, ma'ayyela (looking like a
tipha/tarha), under the aleph. Yeivin (Intro to Tiberian Masorah, No. 216)
says that the ma'ayyela "is not used here in some early MSS."

Looking at both the Leningrad Codex facsimile
(http://www.seforimonline.org/seforimdb/pdf/264.pdf ) and the Allepo Codex
(http://www.aleppocodex.org/newsite/index.html), however, it looks to me in
both like a metheg, not a ma'ayyela.

1. Is my eyesight at fault, or do both indeed put a metheg under the
aleph?

2. If it is a metheg, why did both BHS (based on Leningrad) and Rabbi
Breuer (based on Allepo) use ma'ayyela?

Thanks very much for your help.

Hayyim
