: like with and without the dagesh?

This sounds like a step backward, we started out discussing one sound,
and now we're discussing 2. However, the Seifer haYetzirah gives us
two hints we didn't have in the beginning:

1- It is articulated with the teeth, in a list given as
    zayin, samech, shin, reish and tzadi

What's with the placement of shin? Anyone know if early semitic
alphabets had the shin earlier? Or is this a clue, since the list places
shin next to samech, that there is some kind of sequence based on
articulation.

It also means the reish is NOT lingual, like dalet, tes, lamed, nun or
tav.

2- Yet it must alsoo be amenable to both frictive (like v, dh, f and
th) and plosive forms (b, g, d, p, t). Not sure how to do a dental
plosive, since there is no wy to stop and suddenly release air without
using soft tissue.

I didn't use anything that academic. Those 14 were from the
"standard" text.
