The ba'al "Simanim" (R' Reiachi) in his "Tuv Ta'am" lists 
the sh'va na' as having a sound like a segol.

And let us not forget that the segol was once called patach 
katan, that the Babylonian nikkud has no symbol for segol 
and uses the patach symbol for both. Not only did the Jews 
of Bavel pronounce them both the same way but, to this day, 
the Teimanim still speak of Aratz Yisroel and, when reading 
the Torah, one can hear the patachy tint of the sh'va na' as 
well as the other tints where appropriate.
