The verses call them "days of Yom Tov" and a day on which "mourning was
turned to Yom Tov".  I point this out because the same terminology of "Yom
Tov" is used to describe the shearing festival made by Naval of Carmel which
David requested to join, so that the term appears to describe any sort of
festive rejoicing, and not specifically that caused by a chag (although,
IIRC the mefarshim on 25:38, the original request might have been made on
R"H, negating my point).
