moreaiach veda’in that the gemara meant not that he would only need to question
the defendant, and could smell whether he is guilty or not and pasken
based on the surety of his conclusion, but perhaps the gemara meant that when
questioning the EIDIM he was able merely smell them and then judge the
credibility of the eidim whether he should accept them as credible or not and
thus pasken the case accordingly.</FONT></DIV>
