club at Harvard and all over the world. In re the opposite extreme --
philo-Semitism -- I will say that the phenomenon of the scholarly
non-Jew who writes movingly and sympathetically about the sufferings of the Jews
has always intrigued me, and I wonder where in Jewish tradition we find a source
for /them/? I am thinking of people like Malcolm Hays, Conor Cruise
O'Brien, Paul Johnson, George Eliot, Lord Balfour.</FONT></DIV>
