Sources (and much else concerning this minhag) were noted in the Avodah v8 (Oct2001) discussion. Frankly, I don't think this minhag applies to one's own children who already are ba'alei bayis, much less to others' children, whether male or female, who have their own household, but I look forward to changing my mind someday :). <br>
