The MB in OC 531:4 writes that it's assur to leave EY for a visit, unless he left to earn money or to visit a friend, which are considered dvar mitzvah. I can understand earning money, since you need to put food on the table, and that obligation has many sources, such as kesuba, lo saamod al dam reiacha, etc. etc. But what's the mitzvah to visit a friend?<br>
