Sounds like the logic is missing a step between "lulav" and "hadas." Given that the g'matria of "hadas" is one more than that of "chayyim" (and "lulav"), the two are connected, but why a quote re the connection between "lulav" and "chayyim" when the nimshal related to the connection between "hadas" and "chayyim"?
