<div>but, ner chanukah is a chovas ha-bayis (ner ish u&#39;beiso) other mitzvos that are a chovas ha-guf we wouldn&#39;t rely on the klal ishto k&#39;gufo.</div>

<div>(parenthetically, the brisker rov has an interesting&nbsp;discussion regarding the relationship between the ikar mitzvah and and hidur mitzvah in his chidushim on the rambam - where he discusses the machlokes rambam/rema regarding who should light the extra candles (bnei ha-bayis/ baal ha-bayis) and bris milah).
