<div>As a Talmudic precedent for some of what we are discussing here, ie that the text of the kesubah is disregarded for common practice, see BM 104b at the top. The gemara discusses that there was a minhag to double the amount of the monetary obligation when writing the shtar, for kavod. (In such a place, you would only collect half the amount written, of course.)
