This may depend on what you believe about the argument that we simply
aren't happy enough on a weekday or even a regular Shabbos in chu"l
for birchas kohanim.
If you take it as face value, then perhaps not.
But if you think it is a limud zekhus, then the question has value.
Second, in what locale? Israel yochiach that this is a minhag hamaqom
issue, not a minhag avos one.
Is this a Sepharadi mi'ut in a community that is overwhelmingly Ashkenazim
since establishment? Then the question is why they're still duchanin,
or for that matter davening their own nusach. The fact that we are for
some reason still holding on to minhag avos in this situation is a pele,
but how could that be grounds for you defying your own minhag avos as
well as minhag hamaqom?
Again, if it's more than a limud zekhus.
