According to Rashi himself.   "Ani lo ba'si ela lefaresh peshuto shel 
mikra, ul'agada ham'yasheves divrei hamikra."

Also according to Klal Yisrael, which adopted Rashi as Rabban Shel 
Yisrael, and included his grandson as merely one of the general mix of 
"alternative explanations".
