Kesuba-reading is a mere minhag. An even better example would be Tevilas Kelim, which is not only a Mitzvah D'oraisa, but it is one which we make a bracha on -- and it *CAN* be done by a robot (presuming that we can be sure the robot did it properly). [see YD 120:15]
