Now I come across the apparently (according to a talmid of the Yeshiva I once occupied space at) famous chinuch ספר החינוך מצוה תקנב 
 ומהיות מיסוד המצוה מה שזכרתי, נהגו ישראל לקדש בטבעת להיות בידה תמיד למזכרת 
So why is it not a good idea for men to be reminded as well?
