Kaddish derabanan must also be preceded by mikra, which is why we say
the mishna "R Chananya ben Akashya", which ends with a pasuk.

They're both followed immediately by a pasuk ("Vehaya Hashem lemelech"
and "Mi yemalel") precisely for this reason.
