Good question but IIRC it's a question on the gemara(mishna?) which uses
the term beit avel by aveilut but not by chatan. As R' YBS always said,
we don't ask why, we ask what :-)!
When asked this by someone I ventured a guess that by the aveilut it has
to do with the neshama of the meit being there ( I don't really know
what that means but have heard of the general concept - but as a good
actuary, given a fact I make up an explanation:-))

I agree but the question is why is aveilut only dependent on the
house but chatavn affects everyone.
To reverse what RYBS says I am asking the why and not the what !
