<div class="pf-content"><p>After a long introduction, we looked at Meshekh
Chokhmah on the navi’s explanation to Rivqah about why her pregnancy was
so odd. She wasn’t merely surprised by having twins — one
attracted to idolatry, and the other capable of founding the Jewish People.
But why was <em>she</em> prenant with both? Why not like in the previous
generation, where Hagar birthed the son who wasn’t on that level, and
Sarah birthed the one who was? Where Yaaqov and Eisav expected to walk two
different ways or not?</p>
<p>And what was Yitzchaq thinking? How did he so mis-assess Eisav — or
did he?</p>

<p dir="rtl"><strong>שני גוים בבטנך</strong> [אמר רב
יהודה אמר רב: אל תקרי “גוים” אלא
“גיים”] זה אנטונינוס ורבי [שלא פסקו
מעל שולחנם לא חזרת ולא קישות ולא צנון לא
בימות החמה ולא בימות הגשמים (ע”ז יא.)]
כו’.</p>
<p dir="rtl">הענין דשרה בררה חלק הטוב וחלק הרע
נטלה הגר וכמו שאמ’ “עד יעקב אבינו לא
פסקה זוהמה” (שבת קמ”ו). וכיון שראתה
שהבנים מתרוצצים וכשהולכת לבית ע”ז עשו
מפרכס לצאת הרי כאן האחד טוב והאחד רע. ולמה
זה אנכי? שלא כדרך שרה שלרבקה ניתן גם את הטוב
גם את הרע ולא ביררו לה הטוב לעצמו. והשיבו לה
“‘שני גוים’ — זה אנטונינוס”
הרי שבחלק הרע שלך מעורבב גם הטוב. ולכן המה
שניהם בבטנך.</p>
