[Mesorah] Hamotzi lechem min ha'adama???

No source, but when I asked this question of my high school dikduk
teacher (he was, at the time, my son's high school dikduk teacher!) he
told me that the eretz refers to Eretz Yisrael specifically.  I believe
he quoted a Maharsha, but I'm not sure.
